A complete set of control equations for the human musculo-skeletal system.

چکیده
A mathematical model of the total human musculo-skeletal system is presented. The model comprises a link-mechanical and a musculo-mechanical set of ordinary first-order differential equations which deacrihe the dynamics of the segment model and muscle model respectively. The interdependence of the two sets of equations is demonstrated. The set of musculo-mechanical quations contains the two neuromuscular control parameters motor unit recruitment and stimulation rate, and the significance of such a representation for a control-theoretical treatment of musculo-skeletal systems is discussed. Finally, after a short discussion of the successful application of the present model in the prediction of an optimal human motion, further possibilities are indicated of the use of the model for investigations into the control behaviour of musculo-skeletal systems.

Abstract Background: Educational systems need to modify teaching methods in order to be effective. This research was conducted to study the effects of theory-practice and practice-theory methods of anatomy teaching on student learning and satisfaction. Methods: This quasi-experimental survey was carried out on second semester students of Lorestan University. During a 6-week period student...

Background and Aim: One of the most prevalent occupational diseases and conditions is musculo-skeletal disorders (MSDs) that impose expensive medical-recompense expenses, organic damages, and work-time wasting. The aim of this study was to detect spine curvatures (cervical, back/ low back, lumbar) and prevalence of musculo-skeletal disorders in assembly workers of Bahman automobile company, Teh...
متن کاملA Mechanical Musculo-Skeletal System for a Human-Shaped Robot Arm
This paper presents a mechanical system with a similar configuration to a human musculo-skeletal system for use in anthropomorphic robots or as artificial limbs for disabled persons. First, a mechanical module called ANLES (Actuator with Non-Linear Elasticity System) is introduced. There are two types of ANLES: the linear-type ANLES and rotary-type ANLES. They can be used as a voluntary muscle ...
متن کاملHuman Arm Posture Control Using the Impedance Controllability of the Musculo-Skeletal System Against the Alteration of the Environments
We show that humans execute the postural control ingeniously by regulating the impedance properties of the musculo skeletal system as the motor command against the alteration of the environment. Adjusting muscle activity can control the impedance properties of the musculo -skeletal system. To quantify the changes in human arm viscoelasticity on the vertical plane during interaction with the env...
متن کاملMusculo-Skeletal Models as Tools to Quantify Embodiment
Human and animal movement is absolutely fascinating and can hardly be mimicked by technical devices, so far. It has been proposed that part of the movement generation and control can be associated to the non-linear characteristics of the bio-mechanical structures and morphology. Terms like morphological computation (Paul, 2006) and intelligence by mechanics (Blickhan et al., 2007) capture this ...
